摘要
This chapter describes common gynaecological problems in children, which may present initially to a paediatric surgeon. It is important that paediatric surgeons are familiar with the most common gynaecological conditions and refer on for gynaecology input if required. In prepubertal girls, vulvovaginitis and labial fusion are most frequently seen. In adolescent girls, abdominal pain and/or a pelvic mass can occur due to an ovarian cyst or obstructed menstruation. Vulval trauma may present to a paediatric surgeon or gynaecologist, and female genital mutilation (FGM) must always be considered.
