An Experimental Study of IEEE 802.11n Devices for Vehicular Networks with Various Propagation Loss Models

This paper presents the experimental study of WiFi channel IEEE802.11n standard operating in the 5 GHz band under five different propagation loss models. This application is tested on two WiFi nodes with communication properties between transmitter and receiver, essential for throughput and signal strength prediction. It evaluates the throughput and signal strength of the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) traffic and its related transmission rates for communication distances. We conclude that as the distance among the WiFi nodes increases, the parameter performance decreases significantly. It has been proved that this coverage range is suitable for vehicular networks.
