Optimizing the Operation of a Wireless Sensor Network Using a Swarm Intelligence Algorithm

This paper presents the results obtained after testing and comparing the whale algorithm (WOA) and the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm in a practical problem. The task of the prepared solution was to support the operation of wireless sensor networks. As part of the experiments, several sets of solutions were generated for studying the number of active sensors and energy consumption. One of the sets of computational simulation results is presented. The research shows that the use of selected swarm intelligence algorithms can increase the effectiveness of wireless sensor networks.
