Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have exhibited enormous potential to be an effective contender for energy conversion (EC) process. Highly organized and adjustable compositions of MOF assisted to emerge as desirable functional platforms for electrocatalytic processes like the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The structural characteristics and ease of tune-ability put forward engineering strategies of pristine MOFs, MOF composites, and their derivatives for EC. However, activity and conductivity of the of the engineered MOF-based materials can be enhanced with advancement in suitable components and microstructure engineering through superior composition-structure-activity relationships. This work illustrated these advanced approaches to overcome these limitations with the evolution of MOF derived material with insights into the future development of MOF materials as electrocatalysts for HER, and OER.
