Visible‐Light‐Induced Bromination of α‐Diazo Compounds with Bromoform

An efficient visible‐light‐driven strategy for bromination of α‐diazo compounds is achieved for the construction of α‐bromoesters with bromoform. It is noteworthy that the reaction occurs under sole light irradiation without a photocatalyst or an additive. Several synthetic transformations and gram‐scale reactions demonstrate the synthetic potential of this photochemical reaction.
