Abstract
Lung cancer is the major cause of cancer-related death. Early diagnosis offers the best chance for a curative treatment. Lung cancer screening with high-resolution computed tomography (CT) has significantly improved the efforts in early detection of lung cancer. However, CT has low specificity and ground-glass nodules identified incidentally or by screening may correspond to lesions of the lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) spectrum, but in most cases are benign. We have recently showed that sodium-glucose transporter 2 (SGLT2) is a novel diagnostic and therapeutic target in early-stage LUAD.
