43150 Teledermatology evaluation as presurgical tool for Dermato-Oncology patients

Background: Teledermatology (TD) and conventional consult (CC) have been demonstrated equivalent for medical dermal management, but not enough data have been reported about its use in surgical dermato-oncology patients. The objective is to evaluate time to surgery and diagnosis accuracy compared to gold standard. A retrospective study was performed, including patients that followed surgery treatment for skin tumours in two groups according to the main referral system: through CC in 2018, and through TD in 2020. Time until definite surgery and diagnosis accuracy were compared. A total of 98 patients were included. It reveals a shortened time to surgery, with a media of 148 days for the first group and 32 days for the second group, being statistically significant with a p value <0.05. The diagnosis accuracy was less than expected, with an 83% for group 1 and 62% for group 2.
