Quantitative Viral Load Monitoring

Viral load monitoring is important for the management of several different viruses , including human immunodeficiency virus, cytomegalovirus , BK virus , and Epstein-Barr virus. Commutability is the concept of being able to accurately compare viral loads across assays and is important for managing patients and informing clinically relevant thresholds. The use of common international calibrators has been an attempt to promote viral load commutability with variable success.
