Chalcones

Strategies based on privileged structural modifications are used in medicinal chemistry, in which libraries of compounds with noticeable activities can be rapidly amplified using excellent core motifs. Chalcone is a chemical structure widely available in nature. Based on its broad-spectrum activities, chalcone is often used as a privileged scaffold in molecular design strategies to expand the accessible drug chemical space and support more successful drug development programs. Studies over the years have shown that structural modifications based on chalcone derivatives yielded a variety of compounds with excellent activity and multiple applications. This chapter focuses on developments in the medicinal chemistry of chalcone-based compounds.
