Abstract
This chapter is about judging the quality of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. Attention is given to the physiological, behavioral, and technical causes of data quality problems, and examples of individual scans are shown. These examples illustrate that fMRI quality is a multifaceted concept. Consequently, effective assessment of data quality should attend to multiple aspects of the data, and we show multiple ways that the quality of a single fMRI scan can be assessed.
