Treatment of Anxiety Disorders in Children and Adolescents
Autism and child psychopathology series(2023)
Abstract
Anxiety disorders are one of the most prevalent mental health problems in youth. These disorders cause a great deal of disruption to a child and family’s life and have been associated with a number of impairments (e.g., peer issues, academic problems). As a result, accurate identification leading to the correct and efficacious treatment is important. In this chapter, we briefly review the phenomenology, prevalence, and other related aspects of childhood anxiety and then quickly pivot toward an introduction and review of the various treatments for these common childhood disorders.
