The possibility of microtubule-related agents as a new treatment option for neuroendocrine carcinoma and small cell lung cancer

Few biomarkers for cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents have been identified. We examined using gastric cancer cells to explore the biomarkers for paclitaxel (PTX). We established PTX resistant MKN28 cells and speculated that STAT3, STMN1 and ABCB1 were associated with acquired PTX resistance. The changes of intracellular signals, related cell proliferation, anti-apoptosis and cell motility, were examined using MKN28 cells, and established PTX resistant MKN28 cells. Between those cell-lines, the expression of STAT3 increased; STMN1 and ABCB1 decreased on the other hand.
