摘要
To analyze performance in basic and instrumental activities of daily living and associated factors in older elderly people in the community. This is a cross-sectional study with 221 older adults aged ≥70 years from the central region of Brazil. The outcome variables were disability in at least one activity of daily living. Multiple regression models were applied to the three outcomes, considering demographic and health conditions as exposure variables. The mean age was 79.1 years (5.7), and 67.4% were women. The prevalence of disability in BADL was 37.3%, while for IADL it was 80.1% and for ADL 81.4%. The associated factors for disability in BADL were hospitalization in the last year, falls, and reduction in gait speed. IADL was associated with age ≥80, 4 years or less of schooling, and falls. Total disability in ADL was associated with age ≥80 years and falls. The prevalence of disability was high, especially for instrumentals, and the association with advanced age (≥80 years) and falls, demonstrates the need for continuous surveillance of these characteristics.
