Principles of analysis

This section sets out the core concepts in chemical analysis: weights and measures, stoichiometry, which describes the balance sheet for reactions between chemicals; acids with bases; oxidizing with reducing agents; and also solubility and standard ways of expressing the concentrations of dissolved substances. These are critical to the performance of chemical analyses and of being able to relate measurements made by one person to those made by another, whether in the one laboratory or in another, in one country, or another.
