COVID-19 in the Netherlands: A three-phase analysis

•For the Netherlands, the COVID-19 mitigation strategy can be divided in three phases with different combination of interventions.•In all three phases, significant non-pharmaceutical interventions were implemented to protect vulnerable individuals and prevent healthcare institutions from overload.•In phase three, the containment measures could be released despite health indicators experiencing (major) peaks.•This suggest the COVID-19 situation in the Netherlands has moved from the pandemic to the endemic phase.
