Review of Theory and Experiment for Underwater Propulsion

Underwater propulsion is to convert the power generated by the engine into the thrust of the underwater vehicle, so as to overcome the resistance of the vehicle in the water and push the vehicle forward. Underwater propulsion technology directly determines the important technical indexes such as rapidity, endurance, and stealth of warships and underwater vehicles. At the same time, it also determines the vitality of the vehicle. Developing underwater propulsion technology and improving the design and manufacturing capability of China’s high-end industrial equipment has become an urgent problem to be solved. In order to further understand and analyze the current research level of underwater propulsion technology, first, starting from the development of underwater propulsion technology, this paper introduces the evolution of underwater propulsion technology. Then, the theoretical and experimental progress of underwater propulsion technology is introduced comprehensively. Finally, the key technologies and challenges encountered by underwater propulsion technology in the future are interpreted in detail.
