Abstract
Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer type worldwide.Despite the decline in incidence and mortality in the last five years worldwide, it remains the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths. 1 Many factors affect the prognosis and survival of cancer patients. The prevalence of malnutrition, a major contributing factor, is higher in patients with gastrointestinal cancer and advanced stages of the illness. Moreover, It is estimated that 10%-20% of deaths of cancer patients could be related to malnutrition rather than the malignancy itself.
