摘要
Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy that can lead to permanent vision loss in patients that are not adequately treated. Lowering intraocular pressure (IOP) is currently the only modifiable risk factor available for treatment. Most patients can be controlled with drops and laser therapy to lower their IOP, but there is a subset of patients that need more invasive interventions to prevent vision loss. Microinvasive glaucoma surgery has bridged the gap between nonsurgical therapy and historical gold-standard filtration treatments like trabeculectomy or tube-shunt surgery.
