摘要
Healthy aging is a trendy goal nowadays, so an active search is ongoing for compounds that allow the prevention of age-related diseases that affect the population today. A good ally to help this healthy aging comes from the phenolic compounds present in plants. The great diversity of their bioactive properties makes them perfect candidates for preventing, treating, and stopping the progression of these types of pathologies. In this sense, compounds with demonstrated anti-aging capacity may be good candidates for drugs being developed for use against various age-related pathologies. Much study literature has demonstrated the power of these frontal neurodegenerative diseases both in vitro and in vivo, including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular diseases, and disorders affecting the locomotor system. In addition, phenolic compounds have shown an ability to slow the aging of the skin both intrinsically with aging and extrinsically from sun radiation. Within this context, this chapter collects information about the role that different families of phenolic compounds play in various age-related pathologies.
