摘要
Everyone in an organisation needs to understand climate change, its impact on society, on the business itself and the associated sector, as well as the best high-impact solutions to be embedded in their work and private life. In short, everyone needs to be climate literate. This includes the ability to calculate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of every human activity, from using an air-conditioning unit in the office or drinking a cappuccino in the staff room, to buying work clothes or choosing a mobile phone. Additionally, being climate literate provides the tools to help select the climate solutions with the highest impact, which will potentially improve the future for all within the organisation, and beyond. This chapter will introduce the concept of carbon equivalent emissions and how to calculate the GHG emissions of a wide variety of activities. Utilising the worldwide distributed Climate Literacy Training for Educators, Communities, Organisations and Students (CLT-ECOS), it will offer a detailed plan for an eight-hour training course covering high-impact climate solutions, climate justice, carbon calculations, along with the key insights from climate change science in relation to high-impact solutions. The purchase of the book will give access to all the material needed to run such a training course, along with complementary Online Managers’ Notes including slide decks and quizzes.
