Abstract
Corrosion at high temperatures is discussed in the chapter. At high temperatures, almost all metals, alloys, and materials of technological interest oxidise and corrode. In the modern industrial environment, high temperature corrosion is a significant factor in material selection. Many industrial processes, including those used in electric power plants, gas turbines, aerospace, heat-treating, and the processing of minerals and metals, operate at temperatures higher than 500°C. This chapter covered various types of high-temperature corrosion as well as factors that influence it.
