Abstract
In this chapter, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) is discussed. SCC is defined as the crack failure of alloys on subjecting them to an aggressive environment in the presence of static tensile stress (nominally static and tensile). Stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, and hydrogen-induced cracking are the three types of corrosion cracking. The chapter contains different mechanism models, protection strategies, and case studies.
