Abstract
The Front Cover shows a gold nanoparticle decorated with a simple xyloside ligand having a 1,2,3-triazole backbone functionalized with a pyridine ring. The prepared gold nanoparticles are highly stable in air for several days and soluble in water. The nanoparticle is covered with an image of a wheat field, illustrating the protective layer provided by the monosaccharide units, which also prevents the sedimentation of the nanoparticles. On the right, the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol is depicted, in which the catalytic efficiency of these nanoparticles is superior or comparable to those of existing systems. These results illustrate the potential of D-xylose as a promising platform molecule from lignocellulosic biomass to stabilize gold nanoparticles.
