Abstract
Modern workplaces have over the years become increasingly diverse, inevitably changing the landscape of the labor market. Simultaneously, as a response to a more dynamic and competitive market, organizations have steadily globalized and consequently shifted towards virtual work. It is therefore necessary for organizations to develop an environment that fosters the inclusion of various groups of employees. As a reaction to the current situation, this chapter addresses the implications of virtuality on the inclusiveness of a diverse workforce, in particular of marginalized groups. Moreover, it synthesizes research on inclusiveness in organizations and discusses how the properties of virtual work, such as technology and distance, shape diversity management. Lastly, it discusses possible practices for inclusive management in virtual organizations.
