Abstract
Though physical activity determines positive effects on human biology, excess in training or exercising such as occurs in athletes may induce some impairments, especially in females. In fact, altered menstrual cyclicity up to chronic anovulation and amenorrhea occurs quite frequently. Several neuroendocrine and hormonal settings are impaired by excessive physical exercise and restricted nutrition or by exaggerated energy consumption. This chapter tries to focus on such issues.
