摘要
Continuous changes in the global climate causing serious damages to crop production globally and this may get even more worse in coming years. The abrupt fluctuations in earth’s temperature have increased the spells of climatic stresses which reducing the crop yield and posing biggest threats to food security. Current methods of plant breeding are unable to fill the gap between crop demand and crop yield to meet the food demands of increasing population. CRISPR/Cas9 is an excellent system that provides quick, versatile, precise, and targeted gene editing. By employing CRISPR/Cas9 system crops can be improved by introducing the new genes or modifying or edit the current genes. There are numerous applications of CRISPR/Cas9 system to develop crops with enhanced climate resilience and increased crop yield.
