摘要
Recently, it has been observed in Veredas that the increase in population of species such as Trembleya parviflora has caused a reduction in its plant diversity. The objective was to verify, in controlled experiment, factors involved in the success of the initial development of seedlings of this species, such as water availability and soil coverage with litter. Mortality, height, diameter, leaf loss and dry matter of young plants submitted, in an entirely randomized experimental design, to three different moisture level conditions and two litter conditions (presence and absence) were evaluated. In general, the seedlings of the species were tolerant to flooding, since in soils with intermediate water availability, there was no mortality. In flooding, the seedlings presented smaller heights and larger diameters. The smallest diameters were observed in plants with development in soils with low moisture levels. The plasticity of the species was evidenced by the fast-reproductive maturity and by its growth in different moisture conditions of the substrate which were favored by the presence of litter.
