Abstract
The effects of social determinants of health (SDH) or social needs on quality of life (QOL) are understudied in cancer research. Spiritual well-being—a component of the Social and Community Context SDH domain—is an important aspect of QOL for cancer patients and family caregivers (FCGs). Often defined as the belief in something greater than oneself and guided by nature and/or the sacred, spirituality can be practiced with or without a religious affiliation. In this analysis we explored the relationship between spiritual well-being and social needs of lung cancer surgery patients (LCSP) and FCGs.
