Nocardia paucivorans Endophthalmitis and Cerebral Abscesses in an Immunocompetent Patient

Nocardia spp are an uncommon cause of central nervous system infections and particularly endophthalmitis. In this case report, we present the first documented case of endogenous Nocardia paucivorans endophthalmitis and subretinal abscesses. We also provide a brief summary of the literature regarding ocular and cerebral nocardiosis. Early diagnosis and management improve outcomes; hence, clinicians should be cognizant of Nocardia infection as a differential diagnosis in cases of cerebral abscess or endophthalmitis, including in the immunocompetent.
