摘要
This article describes theories that endeavor to account for the development of psychopathology in adolescence. After providing some historical context regarding how theories derive from the mores of their eras and the cultures of their origins, this article outlines the major theoretical perspectives underlying modern attempts to explain psychopathology. The central tenets of the medical, psychoanalytic, behaviorist, cognitive, humanist, family systems, and biobehavioral models are described, as well as more recent trends, including the integrative perspectives of the developmental psychopathology and biobehavioral models and emerging transdiagnostic models that eschew diagnostic categories and instead seek to identify the underlying cognitive, emotional, and biological processes implicated.
