摘要
Propolis is a resin like component that is gathered by bees from the secretions of herbs moreover use it toto safeguard and preserve beehive equilibrium. It is a well known traditional medicine. Since the 1980s, there has been numerous studies into the diversification of chemical characteristics and plant sources, bioactivities, extraction procedures, analysis tools, and medicinal uses in healthcare situations. Propolis seems to be an ideal bio - active constituent for incorporation into biopolymers owing to its anti inflammatory, antimicrobial and immunostimulatory characteristics. Using the existing experimental data, this review tries to explore the possible potential of propolis as biomaterial. In addition, it provides a synopsis of its toxicological and pharmacological research. The effectiveness and compatibility of propolis are influenced by variables like extract type and biomaterial type. Propolis upgrades the physical and chemical characteristics of the final composites whilst also enhancing their antibacterial effects. Additionally, propolis is consistent with lesion/skin bandage biomaterials. Moreover, it enhances the injury curative characteristics of biomaterials while having no bad impacts on the composite biomaterials' physic-chemical characteristics. It has been attempted to illustrate propolis'mechanistic pathwaysin laboratory as well as in animal studies, however not much information is available regarding its targeted activities. Clinical studies will aid in the development of critical suggestions based on the anticipated consequences. Additional experiments must be carried out to study the effects of prevalent chemicals present in specimens from around the globe in order to standardize propolis studies and discover new medicines.
