摘要
In this chapter we will take a fresh look on the underlying principles of plasmonic nanobiosensors, emphasizing their merits and shortcomings in the detection of relevant biomolecules for medical diagnosis. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensors have been extensively used for the detection of biomarkers in the past three decades, but they have reached their limits since they are hardly amenable for field-deployable platforms. SPR imaging and Localized surface plasmon resonance have emerged as powerful techniques with higher sensitivity and facile extension to multiplexed configurations than conventional SPR.
