Front Cover: Water‐Dispersible Carbon Nano‐Test Tubes as a Container for Concentrated DNA Molecules (Chem. Eur. J. 53/2023)
Chemistry - A European Journal(2023)
Abstract
Carbon nano-test tubes (CNTTs) can be prepared by a CVD technique using the straight and uniform nanochannels of an anodic aluminium oxide film as a template (top left). The CNTTs are readily dispersed in water. Importantly, a significant number of DNA molecules are specifically attracted to the inner space of CNTTs (bottom left). This is due to the Ca2+-mediated electrostatic interaction between DNA and the inner carbon surface. The numerous small yellow spheres in the cover represent Ca2+ cations.
