Abstract
Abstract. The red betel plant (Piper ornatum N.E.Br.) has been used empirically and has been shown to have various pharmacological activities. The red betel plant contains various chemical compounds, one of which is flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of red betel leaf flavonoid compounds expressed in QE (Quercetin equivalent). The extraction method used maceration with 96% ethanol as a solvent and the determination of flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of red betel leaves was carried out spectrophotometrically with AlCl3 reagent. The results of determining the levels of flavonoids showed levels of 4.07 mgQE/gram extract with flavonol type flavonoids. Abstrak. Tanaman sirih merah (Piper ornatum N.E.Br.) telah digunakan secara empiris dan terbukti memiliki berbagai macam aktivitas farmakologi. Tanaman sirih merah mengandung berbagai senyawa kimia, salah satunya flavonoid. Tujuan pada penelitian ini untuk menetapkan kadar senyawa flavonoid daun sirih merah yang dinyatakan dalam QE (Quercetin equivalent). Metode ekstraksi menggunakan maserasi dengan etanol 96% sebagai pelarut dan penetapan kadar flavonoid ekstrak etanol daun sirih merah dilakukan secara spektrofotometri dengan pereaksi AlCl3. Hasil penetapan kadar flavonoid menunjukkan kadar sebesar 4,07 mgQE/gram ekstrak dengan flavonoid jenis flavonol.
