The great challenges and opportunities of the next 20 years

Each section of this chapter is written by a different author focusing on a particular challenge or opportunity for the future of their own choosing. There are various ways in which the sections could have been organised but in the end, we left them in the order that they were originally submitted. Note, however, that Sections 1, 3, 7 and 9 all deal with issues around access and equity, Sections 4, 5, 8, 10 and 11 cover different kinds of learning and enabling technology and Sections 2 and 6 offer two aspects of the same issue, namely ubiquity and information overload.
