The effects of different abortion policy environments on women's health

Objectives This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary objective To investigate the effects of different abortion policies on country level maternal mortality, and abortion‐related health outcomes, including abortion‐related mortality, physical and mental morbidity, and social and economic well‐being. Secondary objective To assess possible differences in the effects of different policies on specific vulnerable populations, including minors, refugees, immigrants, sex workers, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ communities. Due to the fact that policies beyond those specifically related to abortion govern whether minors can consent to a termination of pregnancy, we anticipate that this group will feature more than other groups.
