摘要
Visual field testing remains a mainstay of the clinical management of glaucoma. It is used to assist in diagnosis and to assess the effectiveness of treatment outcomes and is the key measurement of the impact of glaucoma on a patient’s sight. Indeed, visual field testing measures the key outcome of interest to patients; is their vision being preserved? As technology advances, different approaches to visual field assessment are emerging, in addition to the need to evaluate visual fields in the context of other modern technology used in glaucoma management. This chapter evaluates recent research developments that have bearing on perimetry and the resulting recommendations for the frequency of visual field evaluation in clinical practice.
