Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous virus that infects 95% of the adult population worldwide. Infection with EBV causes infectious mononucleosis. The virus is also associated with a large number of malignant diseases affecting B lymphocytes, such as Burkitt lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and undifferentiated carcinoma of the nasopharynx. EBV has a viral cycle that is characterized by two modes of infection: a lytic infection that allows the generation of new infecting viruses and a latent infection that allows the virus to persist in the body. in the body. The incidence of kidney cancer has increased in recent years. The personal and occupational risk factors that have been identified are smoking, hypertension, obesity, trichloroethylene, and gamma and alpha radiation.
