Perspectives on the Past, Present and Future of Industrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering

This year, 2023, the Industrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering (IE&EE) division celebrates its 80 th birthday. Since its inception in 1943, these fields have undergone major developments in industrial practice, in fundamental understanding of processes, and in the development of new processes and tools. This contribution seeks to highlight some of these major evolutions over the years, as well as some of today’s developments, with an eye to the future.
