Abstract Commercially available lithium triethylborohydride (LiHBEt3) with a lower load of 0.5 mol% acts as an efficient catalyst for the hydroamination of various carbodiimides. It achieved good functional group tolerance under mild and solvent-free conditions. The possible mechanism and pathways of LiHBEt3 catalyzing the hydroamination of various carbodiimides are proposed.
