摘要
Key factors for optimal patient outcome for diabetic foot disease (DFD) require health care professionals to share common goals and follow evidence-based, comprehensive guidelines. Basic principles of prevention and management of DFD include the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of neuropathy and peripheral artery disease (PAD). The diagnosis and treatment of foot infection, the classification of diabetic foot ulcers, and intervention enhance the healing of foot ulcers. The most recent International Working Group Diabetic Foot Guidelines (IWGDF) published in 2019, form the basis for successful international guidelines for multidisciplinary management for people with DFD. Key recommendations on ulcer classification, diagnosis of infection severity, neurovascular assessment, ulcer risk stratification, and interdisciplinary communication can be found in the guidelines. This chapter covers epidemiology, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of DFD.
