摘要
Bunyaviruses form a large order of RNA viruses known as Bunyavirales, which includes more than 350 members distributed worldwide. Several bunyaviruses are pathogenic for plants, animals, or humans, and many are emerging or re-emerging viruses with recognized epidemical potential. Despite their importance, bunyaviruses are still understudied, and, in most cases, efficient countermeasures to fight infection are unavailable. This chapter provides a brief review of what is currently known about virus particle structure and organization, replicative cycle, and the mechanisms of immune evasion. At the end of the chapter, we focus on the recent advances towards vaccine development.
