Medicinal plants and oils are precious resources for the majority of rural and urban populations in Africa and represent the main means by which people heal themselves. Despite progress in pharmacology, the therapeutic use of medicinal plants is present in same countries of the world and especially in developing countries. The positive biological effects and health benefits of herbs and spices have made them irreplaceable in traditional and popular medicine for centuries. Algeria, by the richness and diversity of its flora, constitutes a veritable phylogenetic reservoir, with approximately 4000 species and subspecies of vascular plants.
