Development and refinement of a communication guide to help young adults in Texas reconnect and reduce loneliness

•Loneliness and social disconnection among young people is a public health crisis.•Reconnecting with others is important, but people may not know how to do so.•Communication guide is a theoretically- and empirically-informed resource that could be a model for other interventions.•Focus group feedback helped to refine the content of the guide, for instance, maintaining a reassuring tone and adding more scripts.
