Dapagliflozin alleviates arsenic trioxide-induced hepatic injury in rats via modulating PI3K/AkT/mTOR, STAT3/SOCS3/p53/MDM2 signaling pathways and miRNA-21, miRNA-122 expression

•Dapagliflozin (DPG) mitigates arsenic trioxide (ATO)-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and enhances autophagy.•DPG can exert its protection by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in hepatocytes.•DPG modulates levels of miRNA-21, miRNA-122, and PTEN expression by inhibiting mTOR.•DPG, via modulating STAT3/SOCS3/p53/MDM2 signaling pathways, regulates apoptosis of hepatocytes.•Combining DPG with ATO shows promise for combating hepatotoxicity in acute promyelocytic leukemia patients.
