Curculionids1 of Maize in Copal, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico

Maize is attacked by various pests, and little research has been carried out on the diversity, ecological participation, and develop management strategies for weevils. Curculionids were obtained from a field at Irapuato, Guanajuato. Most-abundant species were Linogeraeus capillatus (72%), Geraeus senilis 19.5%), Nicentrites testaceipes (7.3%), and Linogereus hospes with 0.5%. The first was found from the V8 stage of development on, while the second and third were collected from V5 to R1. Photographs of genitalia and keys to species are included.
