Evaluation of the performance of academic bodies through a high-impact bibliographic database

Academic bodies in Mexico play a crucial role in scientific and technological advancements, and their scientific production serves as vital evidence of their contribution. However, the records of these publications in bibliographic databases can be incomplete and inconsistent. This study proposes a methodo-logy to evaluate the productivity, collaboration, relevance, and density of academic bodies using Scopus, along with thematic content analysis. A case study was conducted in a university in southeastern Mexico, where the findings indicate that consolidated groups exhibit higher production, external collaborations, and significant impact. It was observed that leaders often participate in at least half of their group's production, and groups tend to fragment for publishing purposes. Although a limitation was identified regarding the availability of data for some academic bodies, incorporating new sources of information is recommen-ded for future research.
