Abstract
Background Studies have shown decreased diagnostic accuracy in identifying conditions in dark skin when compared to light skin.1,2 Cutaneous findings differ in patients with varying skin tones, and dermatology training must equip residents to accurately form differentials across a wide range of skin tones. This study aimed to assess the accuracy of differential diagnoses that are formed by dermatology residents for biopsied conditions based on patients’ self-identified race.
