Complete decapitation by a self-constructed guillotine

Decapitations are a rare occurrence in forensic medical practice. The assessment of these cases as homicide, suicide, accident or due to postmortem changes can prove difficult, especially in complex finding situations. A rare case of a complete decapitation by a self-constructed guillotine is presented. In the synopsis of the findings of the scene with the computed tomography and autopsy results, for example signs of vitality, it was possible to reconstruct a case of an elaborate suicidal event.
