摘要
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a considerable increase in the use of social networks as an educational tool in Higher Education. This study systematically analyses the published scientific literature on this topic. Methodology: The database chosen was the Core Collection of the Web of Science. A sample of 36 articles was analyzed after screening according to certain established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis considered the main bibliometric characteristics of the scientific production and emerging categories. Results: Most of the scientific studies analyzed have an empirical nature and follow one of these three thematic patterns: the current state of social networks in Higher Education, the implications of adopting social networks as an educational tool, and its limits and proposals for application and/or improvement. Conclusions: There are numerous benefits that the use of social networks brings as an educational tool in Higher Education, but the complicity of the teaching staff and a broad understanding of its operation by the students are necessary.
